Deer survives 40-foot fall through a roof.
A deer in western Pennsylvania miraculously survived a 40-foot fall from a highway after crashing through the roof of a borough municipal garage last Saturday.
“I heard noise coming from another section of the garage, and I thought it was an employee. I called out his name and there was no reply,” Homewood Council President Alan DeSanzo told Inside Edition.
“Here comes this deer, and it ran one section of the garage to the other. I said ‘holy cow!’”
The deer, a 6-point buck, according to the Trib Live, scampered around the garage as DeSanzo made a hasty escape. Witnesses confirmed later the buck had made a seemingly suicidal dive from a highway bridge 40 feet above the roof of the garage.
After watching the buck make a break for it out one of the garage’s windows, DeSanzo was left to figure out the mystery of how it got into the building in the first place. That’s when he discovered the gaping hole in the ceiling.
“I go back in the building and I am looking around and that’s when I notice part of the ceiling hanging,” DeSanzo told Inside Edition. “I thought, my God, that thing had to jump right off the highway onto the roof.”
Deer never cease to amaze us with what they can survive, but someone should have told this buck he wasn’t one of Santa’s reindeer.
