Watch these giant blowguns in action.
Blow guns have been used by many tribes throughout history for hunting small game. They were originally used to shoot small rocks, hard seeds, and clay pellets. Soon darts were developed to allow them to take out larger prey.
Modern darts are capable of taking everything from small birds up to large rabbits, but do require a touch of stealth and skill to use effectively. The guys at Cold Steel have taken the traditional blowgun up a notch with their Big Bore .625 Magnum Blowgun.
According to their site, these heavy .625 magnum darts are capable of going through a piece of .5-inch plywood at 20 yards. This is not a cheap toy but a serious weapon.
These are available in five different versions. A four-foot regular and professional, a five-foot regular and professional, and finally a five-foot two-piece version. The only difference between the regular and professional is the wall thickness of the pipe.
You can pick these up anywhere from around $35 to $50 dollars depending on which style you choose, which seems like a pretty good deal. They all come with a mouthpiece, rubber ferrule, dart quiver, quiver guard, and 36 darts of different varieties.
I personally can’t wait to get a hold of one of these to try. Just make sure you check your local hunting laws about using blow guns to take game before heading out to the field with it.
