Do You Know What a Coywolf Is? You Could Be Seeing More of This Hybrid Predator

When is a coyote not a coyote?

When its genetics are heavily influenced by wolf genes.

Learn all about the coywolves’ invasion of the Northeast and beyond.

Coyotes are well known now to frequent suburban neighborhoods and even thrive in cities. How can this be?

Well it is in part of the hybrid genetics. These coywolves are part wolf and part domestic dog. This hybrid breed is both stronger and smarter than their parent breeds. This allows them to eat pets, garbage and anything they can fit in their larger jaws. They also are not afraid to live side by side next to human dwellings.

If you think your neighborhood coyotes look like wolves, you are right on the money. The modern coywolf is indeed part wolf.
