Coyote Hunting in New Mexico Could Become Illegal

Coyote hunting in New Mexico will soon be illegal if a newly proposed bill is passed by state legislature.

A bipartisan bill that would ban coyote hunting contests in New Mexico has recently been proposed by the state legislature. The ban on coyote hunting is moving forward in the roundhouse.

New Mexico’s state conservation committee is scheduled to discuss the coyote hunting ban in the near future.

This proposal comes after dozens of dead coyotes were found dumped in the desert near Las Cruces. The carcasses are thought to be from a recent coyote hunting derby.

The proposed measures would make coyotes illegal to hunt in the Land of Enchantment, but still allow landowners to hunt the predators on their property.
