We give you some of the best concealed carry handgun reviews, short and sweet-like.

Before we get started with the reviews, I would like to cover a few things you should consider before purchasing a concealment weapon.

The first thing you should think about is your everyday dress, if you wear a suit and tie, dress casual or if you carry a purse or small handbag. Even though these guns have a small frame and can be carried in a front or back pocket, you should really consider where and how you are going to carry.

Many options are available from shoulder holsters, belt clips, ankle holster or a concealment handbag.

I also suggest that you don’t make your purchase solely based on appearance, with many different options from Polymer frame designs to stainless steal and solid frames all making a difference in weights, shapes and round capacity. Buy for function, not looks.

Below is a list of the top five handguns I personally recommend based on performance and reliability, each reviewed in 100 words or less.

Glock Model 42 .380 Cal

One of the best concealed carry handguns, the Glock Model 42 .380 Cal has a loaded weight of only 14 ounces and a magazine capacity of six rounds plus one chambered. The subcompact carries a big punch; it produces 886 fps muzzle velocity and 162 fps muzzle energy. Glock is the leading supplier to most law enforcement agencies in the country, and have a long track record of reliable action, great resale value and many options and upgrades. Its overall size is a mere 5.95 inches and .94 inches wide.

Ruger LCR Revolver

My second choice would have to be the Ruger LCR Revolver, which comes in a variety of calibers from 22L to, 357 Mag to 38 Special +P, all in the same sleek design. With a weight from 13.5 ounces for a .38 cal to 17.10 ounces in the 357 Mag, this revolver holds five rounds and has a overall length of 6.50 inches and a height of only 4.5 inches.

Springfield XD-S Series .45 ACP

In the middle is the Springfield XD-S Series .45 ACPThis compact single stack magazine hold five rounds plus one chambered, and packs all the full-size features in a compact model. Weighing in at a measly 23.5 ounces unloaded, it has a dovetail rear sight and a fiber optic front sight. The standard black polymer frame is reliable. The XD-S is only 6.3 inches long and 4.4 inches high; its another great concealment gun.

Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard.380 ACP

Fourth place slides in with a Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard.380 ACP. The sleek design incorporates a adjustable laser, stainless steel front and rear drift sights, a high strength polymer frame with a double action and a manual thumb safety. Weighing a light 12.3 ounces with a overall length of 5.25 inches, it and holds a 6+1 magazine and is as trustworthy as they come.

Sig Sauer P320 Nitro

Last but not least is the Sig Sauer P320 Nitro, with a choice of 9MM. .357 or .40 Cal for a wide range of options. Interchangeable polymer grips and SIGLITE night sights are great, and let’s not forget the accessory rail. Depending on the caliber you choose, the magazine will hold from 13 to 15 rounds + 1.  The size makes this a little big for a pocket gun, but the length is still only 7.2 inches and it’s 5.3 inches tall.

With decades of firearms experience and owning four of the five guns listed here, I know that you will be absolutely satisfied with the purchase of any one of them.

Just a side note for those wanting to know, I carry a Glock Model 22 .40 cal in a Blackhawk Serpa Holster and in the winter I change to a over shoulder holster.

Don’t forget that once you purchase your weapon, it’s a good idea to buy extra magazines and ammo. If you are going to carry make sure you have extra magazines with you at all times.
