When confronted by two armed robbers, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jose Marquez fired an incredible, one in a million shot straight down the gun barrel of one of the men.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jose Marquez was off duty and visiting his girlfriend at her apartment back in January when he was accosted by two armed men while retrieving something from his car. He drew a concealed handgun when they started shooting at him and returned fire. In an incredible turn of events, one of his bullets hit the handgun held by one of the robbers and went straight down the barrel in a one in a million shot.
Unfortunately for Marquez, he was shot in the shoulder and the abdomen during the encounter. Another one of his shots hit one of the robbers in the leg and police later arrested the man. The other robber is still at large.
I’ll tell ya: that’s a one in a million shot if I’ve ever see one and it might have actually saved his life that night. The fact that his bullet went straight down the barrel indicates that the bad guy was pointing his gun directly at Marquez. Fortunately for Marquez, he was just a hair faster on the trigger and his shot prevented the robber from shooting him additional times and turning an already crazy and painful encounter into a deadly one.
At this time, Marquez has still not returned to work and is currently recovering from his wounds. Maybe that guy needs to go buy a lottery ticket, because he is clearly a very lucky man.
