Lightning is one of the most fleeting, albeit magical, things we see and at 7,200 frames per second you can appreciate it even more.

It’s said that lightning strikes somewhere on earth some 40-50 times every second and that same lightning lasts about 30 microseconds.

With that in mind getting a slowed down glimpse of one of the world’s most dangerous things makes it a little more beautiful.

Seven out of 10 lightning strikes occur on land and in more tropical regions around the world.

There are many factors including mixtures of warm and cold air masses, moisture, and location.

One thing that there is no question of is the ability of lightning to strike quickly and with deadly consequences. Sportsmen, especially fishermen on open water, need to be wary of the signs and heed their instincts to retreat to safer areas.
