An 800-pound alligator gets hit by a car in North Carolina.
WXII12.com reported that the Dare County collision happened late Sunday night, when the 12-foot reptile was struck by a car on Highway 64.
The beast was so big they had to use a backhoe to move it.

Unfortunately there were no images of the car in the reports, but we’d like to see what sort of damage was done.
A spokesperson from the US Fish & Wildlife Service explained that the gator was trying to cross the road just before midnight when it was struck by the vehicle.
The gator is presumably the same individual who showed up in the area nearly every spring for the past several years. The USFWS also mentioned that it was unusual to have such large alligators in North Carolina.
Have you spotted any gators this spring? When and where?
