Special Agent gets an unexpected passenger in his patrol car!
Ever come face-to-face with a deer? While driving? It happens quite often, especially this time of year.
Fortunately, what you’re about to see isn’t the norm.Special Agent Gransberg was on duty one evening when he spotted something a bit odd in the middle of traffic…a big buck deer jumped right over the top of the corvette that was coming in the opposite direction.
Special Agent Erik Gransberg with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics called the experience “Surreal…it’s a 138-pound buck deer and it came through your windshield at 70 miles an hour.” Scary, right?
Gransberg said that the deer “started kicking me in the face, it kicked me in the face at least ten times, it chipped my tooth!”
Following the collision, the dash cam shattered the plexiglass in his car, and there was glass in his face, arms, and head. Special Agent Gransberg survived; sadly, his unexpected passenger did not.
Oklahoma is 32nd in the nation when it comes to the number of deer collisions. In 2011, the latest year Oklahoma deer crash statistics are available, there were 467 crashes involving deer. Two people died and 184 people were injured.
