Here’s a test: if you load a military full metal jacket bullet backwards, will it act like a soft point bullet?
In this video, the old rumor is put to the test: by loading a full metal jacket rifle bullet backwards in its casing, the exposed lead base will make the bullet act like a soft point bullet.
From the tests that this video show, it indeed works and the bullet will fragment just like a typical soft point bullet.
What does raise concern is how safe is this practice since it will probably change the pressures associated with the caliber and may lead to dangerously high pressures. Please do not try this at home but none the less it is a very interesting video!
