Camouflage in the Sea is Important, Just Ask the Pearlfish

The ocean is a dangerous place, so the pearlfish has adapted in an interesting way.

No, that’s not a piece of poop exiting a sea cucumber, that’s actually a pearlfish inside of its hiding hole.

The sea cucumber is a fairly gross ocean inhabitant because it sucks sand from the bottom of the sea floor and lets it all out through its back door.

That’s where our little black slithering friend loves to hide.

As the video points out, sea cucumbers are actually considered fairly disgusting to other sea animals so it’s the perfect place for the pearlfish to hide.

The pearlfish even invites house guests over, too.

Hey, whatever works to keep you from getting eaten, right?
