The bear lounged in a backyard swimming pool for 15 minutes to escape the sweltering heat wave in southern California over the weekend.

With the California’s historic drought, more black bears have been wandering into populated areas to look for water, but not just water to drink.

Homeowner Thomas See, of Sierra Madre, captured video of a wandering black bear taking a dip in his backyard pool on Sunday. In the clip, the black bear posts up on the pool steps chill out and cool down. This bear looks like he’s done this a time or two.

The bear wasn’t the only one trying to beat the heat over the weekend. Temperatures soared to triple digits. It’s gotta be tough to be a black bear in blazing heat like that.

According to NBC Los Angeles, only 10 percent of the state’s black bears live in southern and central California. Half of the state’s black bears live northwest of the Sierra Nevada’s.
