Cabela’s plans to expand to Canada with its first store opening in 2017.
Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing, and gear announced June 9, 2015 that it has plans to expand out into Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and other surrounding areas.
Cabela’s Canada started in 2007 with their first store in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They now currently have eight stores operating with plans to open four more.
They plan to begin construction in Nova Scotia on a new 50,000 square foot store in 2016, for a grand opening sometime in 2017. The new store will employ 150 full, part-time, and seasonal employees and will be their first store in the area.
Tommy Miller, Cabela’s CEO, said, “Nova Scotia truly embodies the Cabela’s lifestyle and is a perfect fit for our company. Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts call the province home and many more visit the area for its world-class outdoor opportunities and adventures. Additionally, the store’s location in Halifax will put us in close proximity to many of our customers and offer convenient access.”
Cabela’s Canada will use their improved layout system to immerse shoppers in outdoor experiences. It will be complete with log and stone work, vintage gear on display, local wildlife displays, an indoor archery range, and more.
