A hunter decided to chase cape buffalo with the most primitive of weapons – a spear. Watch as he stalks his prey and kills a massive buff.
Cape buffalo, also known as the “Black Death,” are highly unpredictable and dangerous game. They are responsible for many deaths each year, killing hunters armed with much more advanced weaponry.
They can reach six feet in height, run 40 miles per hour, and weigh 2,000 pounds. A cape buffalo spear hunt is as dangerous as hunting gets.
The hunter, Tim Wells, is highly accomplished with the bow as well as the spear; however, taking such a deadly animal with just a sharp stick is not for the faint of heart.
Wells creeps into extremely close range before driving home his razor-sharp weapon. The wounded animal then pounds away, crashing through brush and briars, the spear slicing more flesh with each bounce.
Ranked as some of the most dangerous animals (not just game) in the world, cape buffalo inhabit the continent of Africa. They are one of the famed “Big Five” most challenging species for a hunter to take in Africa.
