Reports are coming in that the Lake Camanche largemouth bass record has been shattered with an 18.17-pound behemoth.
Last Friday, June 26, the previous largemouth bass record for Lake Camanche was crushed by a bass weighing almost three pounds heavier.
Angler Kevin Miranda of Sacramento and his buddy Thomas Ferriera were fishing near Hat Island when Miranda hooked and Ferriera netted the monster.
The big bass hit a River2Sea S-110 V-joint minnow deep diving crankbait.
Lake Camanche, southeast of Sacramento, California, has reportedly been seeing a number of big fish being caught in recent weeks as water levels are low.
The largemouth measured 31 inches long with a 24 inch girth.
Lonnie Owens held the previous lake record with a 15.2 pound bass caught in January of 2013.
The California state record largemouth is a 21.75 pound beast taken in 1991 by Michael Arulo from Lake Castaic.
