Have you got the guts to give this a try?
I like bowfishing as much as the next guy. But I’m not entirely sure I’d want to be bowfishing for alligators, particularly when I’m not in a boat. Although using a crossbow might give me a bit more confidence.
Bowfishing for big fish is one thing. But bowfishing for alligators is altogether different—especially if it’s a spot-and-stalk hunt on foot.
The use of the crossbow definitely adds some range over a standard bowfishing setup, but I’ve had trouble pulling in particularly big carp. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to try and haul in a ticked-off alligator by hand.
The use of the bangstick to finish off the gator may seem a bit extreme but it’s all part of the process. Unless, of course, you’re fine with pulling that angry gator up on the bank with you and trying to wrestle it into the truck on your own. . .
