Boone and Crockett Announces Pending World-Record Bighorn Sheep

Montana's Wild Horse Island State Park may soon have a new claim to fame, as it may have produced the world-record bighorn sheep.

Boasting an unbelievable score of 216 3/8, this ram smashes the current record of 209 1/8, a ram from Alberta. Boone and Crockett announced the pending record on their Facebook page. "One word, massive," the post reads.

Unfortunately, this massive ram won't have a lucky hunter's name attached to it. The animal died from natural causes.

Much like many other record animals at the top of the Boone and Crockett charts, it seems this one managed to avoid the hunters all its life.

The Daily Inter Lake reports this massive ram was found dead in the park in the fall of 2016, along with two other world-class rams. All of them were over the 200-inch mark, a feat bighorn sheep seldom achieve. The other two animals are expected to rank in the top 10 all-time.
