A lawn sign in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is sparking some debate.

After reading an article supporting an assault weapons ban in the local paper, Linc Sample decided to make a statement of his own, rephrasing the “Black Lives Matter” slogan. He created a sign and posted it on private property.

The sign says “Black Rifles Matter” and can be seen in the video below.

Sample has stated that this has nothing to do with race and is solely in support of the second amendment. However, that has not stopped people from complaining about the sign. Some tourists have even cut their vacations short because of it.

Naturally, town officials say Sample is protected by the first amendment and there isn’t much that can be done about the sign.
