Bass Pro Shops Donates $50,000 to Latino Fishing Initiative

Bass Pro Shops has partnered with former President George H. W. Bush and Vamos A Pescar to change that.

Latinos make up about 17% of the American population, but only 7% of fishermen. According to Boating Industry News and the RBFF, the Vamos A Pescar Fund was boosted through a $50,000 donation from Bass Pro Shops. This most recent donation is a show of continued support in this process.

Let’s start off right and be sure you know who we’re talking about here. First, Vamos A Pescar is a branch of the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF). A non-profit organization that focuses on getting more families on the water and enjoying fishing. The Vamos A Pescar program is geared toward Latino families. In fact, their name says it all: It means “Let’s Go Fishing” in Spanish.

In 2016, the former president hosted and participated in the first Vamos A Pescar event at the President George H. W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas.

Bass Pro Shops and its owner Johnny Morris has been heavily involved in a number of activities that focus on expanding the number of people enjoying the outdoors through hunting and fishing.

There are numerous programs that focus on any number of segments of the population. The most important thing is getting more people involved in the great outdoors.
