Baby Wallaby Rescued From Certain Death by Kayakers and Jet-Skier

Here’s how you rescue a drowning wallaby with a jet ski!

What do you do when there’s a wallaby in danger of drowning? Send in a jet ski for a speedy rescue, of course!

This poor baby wallaby found himself disoriented and swimming in circles in Australia’s Noosa River. Some fishermen in kayaks had located the distressed animal, but it quickly became apparent they would need some help if they wanted to rescue this wallaby.

Jonah Cooper is the jet ski operator in this video, and he was specifically called out to lend a hand in this unique situation. “How the kayaker thought he was going to hold a wallaby and paddle to shore seemed to have eluded him,” Cooper said.

Indeed, it looks like the kayaker may have gotten a few swift kicks to the face before passing this guy off. As much as I love my kayak, I have to agree with Cooper: a terrified baby animal with powerful back legs is the last thing I’d want in the kayak with me.

Thankfully, Cooper was able to come to a nice, speedy rescue. Well done, Cooper!
