Baby Dolphin Dies So Tourists Can Get Selfies in Argentina

Baby Dolphin Dies

Would you stand around watching as this baby dolphin died so tourists could get selfies?

Who would have thought that, in 2016, the price we put on this dolphin’s life is a good selfie?

That is exactly what happened when these beachgoers in Argentina picked a baby dolphin out of the water. They passed it around from one to another and the baby dolphin dies so tourists can get selfies.

Unfortunately no one thought to put the fish back in water and it died from overheating.

Warning: the following video may be upsetting to some.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Franciscan dolphin is classified as a vulnerable species due to “a projected decline of more than 30 percent over three generations.”

The World Wildlife Federation in Argentina posted the following statement on their website: “This incident should serve to remind people about the need to return these dolphins to the sea if one is found outside of the water. It’s fundamental that people help rescue these animals because every Franciscan has a value.”

Many comments on Facebook use phrases such as “Digusting” or “How stupid can people get” to describe this incident. The outrage that has spread across social media has sparked media coverage around the world.

At what point did the selfies stop being with a cute baby dolphin, and turn into a morbid photo with a dead fish? You think someone would have noticed.

No one wants to see a living being suffer.
