Artist Uses Animal Cutouts Filled with Natural Backgrounds to Make Cool Images [PICS]

These animal cutouts are neat. Artist Nikolai Tolstyh cuts out animal shapes and holds them up against natural backgrounds, making some pretty great art.

Nikolai Tolstyh has a different way of creating art. He uses simple cutouts of animals from paper but superimposes them with natural backgrounds, like trees or leaves.

The result is beautiful in its simplicity; the way the textures complement each other is quite artistic.

As you can see, the backgrounds are not random.

Each background coincides with the animal cutout to make a neat image. An elk gets a moss/bark background; the cougar gets a yellow aspen leaf background.

Although his art form is simple, there is something deeper and more meaningful to the backgrounds he chooses for what animal cutout.
