Change your boat motor oil regularly, and learn how to do it right here.

If you’ve held off on changing out the oil in your outboard motor because you thought it was too difficult, well, you might feel a bit foolish after watching this video.

So, there you have it. A step-by-step tutorial on changing your oil. You were watching for informational and educational purposes, right?

In all seriousness, there’s plenty of good reasons to maintain your boat’s engine. And, no, you don’t have to wear a bikini while doing it. Unless, of course, you can pull it off.

Lower unit oil should be changed out at the end of the season, prior to storing your boat for the winter. Why not wait until spring? Well, if you live in a region where things freeze solid, any water that might have found its way into your lower unit will freeze as well. Frozen water expands. That can lead to cracks and other damage.

If you haven’t changed the oil in your motor or lower unit, it’s not too late. Watch the video again and get to work.
