Alien Gear Holsters has done it once again with the latest iteration of their Cloak Tuck IWB line of holsters.
About a year ago, I posted a review of the Cloak Tuck 2.0 IWB holster by Alien Gear Holsters. I came away very impressed with the product and had no issue with confidently recommending it to anyone who was looking for a new IWB holster for concealed carry. The build quality, comfort, and the pricing and warranty combined to make the Cloak Tuck 2.0 IWB holster a very solid product.
Recently, Alien Gear unveiled their newest version of the Cloak Tuck line of holsters known as the Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster. I didn’t think it was really possible for the company to improve on such a great product, but they managed to do exactly that with the 3.0.
At first glance, the new holster might not appear to be significantly different from the previous version. The design of the 2.0 was so well done that wholesale and massive changes in design were not needed. Instead, Alien Gear Holsters focused on tweaking and improving on smaller things to make the entire holster an even more impressive piece of shooting gear.
Comfort has always been a big deal for Alien Gear Holsters and they have further improved the feel of the Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster. The previous version of this holster was already very comfortable and the 3.0 is even more comfortable. I didn’t really think that was possible, but a couple of thoughtful design changes by Alien Gear made it so.
One of the design changes took place on the rear of the holster. The hardware on the back of the holster is even more hidden on this version of the holster which makes for a much more comfortable feel. The remaining hardware that is exposed has been covered with a thin layer of neoprene. This means that you never need to worry about discomfort emanating from any exposed hardware.
The back of the holster is still made from the neoprene of the 2.0, but that really did not need to be changed. As for the material on the front of the holster, Alien Gear Holsters has gone with a thermoelastic polymer on the Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster.
Known as “Alien Skin,” the material is texturized to add additional grip to help keep your firearm in place. It also makes the holster look even more visually pleasing, if I do say so myself.
Perhaps the biggest, and also the best, change to the new design is the addition of a thin piece of stainless spring steel. This addition takes the 3.0 holster to an entirely new level. It adds a much needed layer of support behind the firearm, makes a sitting position while wearing the holster more comfortable, and also makes it even easier to re-holster your weapon.
The Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster maintains the adjustability of the previous version which is one of the best features. The holster comes with all the necessary hardware, including a wrench and an assortment of different sized spacers, to adjust both the cant and the retention strength of the holster.
The holster also maintains the incredible warranty program offered by Alien Gear Holsters.
Their warranty program offers three prongs of protection for the owner of the holster. It offers a 30-day test drive during which the company will buy it back if you don’t find it to be comfortable; a lifetime guarantee where if any part of the holster breaks the company will fix it free of charge; and the ability to send in the old shell and receive a new one if you change the type of gun you use.
All in all, the Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster is one of the best and most comfortable inner waistband holsters on the market today. It is really hard to find a bad thing to say about it. Especially when you consider the MSRP of $43.88.
If you are in the market for a new IWB holster, I strongly recommend that you give Alien Gear Holsters a try.
