Cabela’s Northern Flight goes on a walk-in public land duck hunt to get away from hunting pressure and on the birds.
Sometimes you’ve got to try new tactics during the season to get on those more educated ducks.
Cabela’s Northern Flight just does that by doing a walk-in public land duck hunt.
Like many waterfowlers, I have the big boat with a blind, tons of decoys and other gear. The downside is we sometimes become too fixated on using the same methods and locations to do our hunts. Doing the same thing sometimes means no ducks in the boat in those more pressured areas.
A great way to get on those less pressured areas is to try a walk-in hunt. With a little planning and by reducing your gear you can get on some real gems of small waters or rivers where the more savvy birds are holding up when the hunting pressure is strong.
Do some scouting on some of that more remote water near your home and try a walk-in hunt with some buddies; it could be one of the best hunts of the year.
