9 of the Craziest Claims People Have Made about Bigfoot Recently

These are the craziest bigfoot claims of recent memory.

Everyone loves a good Bigfoot or Sasquatch story. Whether you believe or not, there's something endlessly entertaining about these tales.

So, we decided to do a rundown of some of the wilder claims in recent memory. Some of these are still unconfirmed, while some were debunked. Just about all of them broke the internet.

1. Head in a freezer

This one is fairly recent. New York resident Peter Caine has recently claimed his dad shot Bigfoot in 1953. Not only did he claim his dad shot the creature, but he claimed he's had the frozen head on ice ever since then. We'll let you watch the video and judge for yourselves the legitimacy of this one.

2. White bigfoot?

This footage was taken a while back, but went wildly viral again earlier this year. The footage purportedly shows a white Bigfoot in Pennsylvania. As far as we know, no one has proved or disproved this footage yet.

3. Drone sighting

A drone took footage of the beast in Idaho that went viral in June 2016. But people suspected something was amiss with the footage, based on how easily the drone operator found and centered the creature in the frame. It was later revealed to be a joke, but not before the video fooled likely millions of people.

4. Man claims dog saved him from the beast

This one made the rounds in August 2015 when a man in North Carolina not only claimed to have seen the creature, but that his Yorkshire terrier, Zippy, saved him from being mauled.

"Zippy could tell I was scared and got so riled up that he got loose and went after it. It turns out the brave little guy chased the Sasquatch away and saved me from a possible encounter. I love him more than ever," Eric Walters told reporters.

We know Yorkies are big dogs in a little dogs' bodies, but we didn't know they were so fearsome in the face of a monster.

5. Rob Lowe sees Bigfoot

The actor made his claim in June of last year. He claimed to have not only to have encountered the creature, but to have feared for his life when he saw it. He was with his sons in the Ozark Mountains of Oklahoma during the filming of his mystery show the Lowe Files. Some have speculated it was all just a publicity stunt for the show. We suppose only Rob knows for certain. It is certainly weird for such a public figure to make such a claim.

6. San Antonio body

This one was another hoax by self-proclaimed Bigfoot hunter Rick Dyer. He claimed to have shot the creature in 2013 after using pork ribs as bait. Unbelievably, this was Dyer's SECOND time claiming to have shot Bigfoot. That incident was proven to be a hoax and probably tarnished his reputation far too much for anyone to believe this second claim. He later admitted it wasn't real, as if anyone needed to be told.

7. Fossil skull

In yet another "I found a head!" claim, Ogden, Utah's Todd May went to the papers in June 2016 to announce to the world he'd found a fossilized Bigfoot head in Ogden Canyon.

Unlike many of the other found-body stories out there, May allowed experts to examine the skull in detail. Although he wasn't happy when they proclaimed it was "just a rock." As far as we know, he's still claiming the skull is the real deal. "I don't know where I'm going next, but people need to see this and know Bigfoots are real and they are out there," May told the Time News Record.

8. Trail camera video

This one lit the internet on fire in August 2017. And unlike some of the other stories here, this one has not been debunked. The footage surfaced on the internet along with the story that a law enforcement officer had placed a trail camera as part of a marijuana grow investigation.

But when he returned, he found the camera ripped off the tree and buried in leaves. This footage is all that showed of whoever or whatever buried it.

We still don't know what this footage shows, but it's probably the creepiest one on this list.

9. Woman claims she crashed car because of Sasquatch

This hilarious story made the rounds last March. An Idaho woman told sheriff's deputies that responded that the reason she hit a deer was because it was fleeing for its life from Bigfoot.

Unsurprisingly, the deputies didn't include any Sasquatch evidence in their reports of the crash. We just wish we could have been there to hear her make the claim!

So there you have it, nine of the craziest Bigfoot stories of recent memory. Real or hoax, one thing no one can deny, the legend of Bigfoot is one that just never seems to die!
