7-Foot Grouper Caught in Masbate, Philippines

An insanely huge lapua lapue was found in the shallows by a fisherman. 

Jessie Cacam found grouper that measured in at seven feet long and weighed nearly 400 pounds last Tuesday. The giant fish was found in shallows and later died after the fisherman found it.

Grouper are abundant in Philippine waters, but usually stay in deep waters. This giant fish ventured into shallow waters and a was caught and sold.

Dir. Rremia Aparri of Buera of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources believe the fish was washed ashore by the strong waves.

Grouper are known for growing to insane sizes, but this seven footer is near the biggest the species get. What would you do if you found a fish of this size?

Grouper are usually sold for $11 to $13 per pound for wholesale, therefore this fish likely netted approximately $4,400-$5,200!
