When it comes to fishing boat mishaps, just be thankful that you are not on this list.
Here are seven fishing boat mishaps that will make you wonder what the heck happened.
1. Going “Ike” at the Sabine River
Professional bass angler Mike Iaconelli makes his living on the water. He spends his time driving fast in his bass boat and sometimes things happen. At the Sabine River during a tournament hit something and this is the result.
2. Wrong Way
This one has made the rounds on the internet. It has been the source of many memes to make sure they never forget that they were part of one of the seven best fishing boat mishaps.
3. On the Highway
This one was shared on Bassmaster’s Facebook page. Driver Todd Schmitz lost control while trying to avoid a semi crossing the center lane and this was the result.
4. Shinichi Fukae Crashes into the Paris Landing Bridge
This one looks worse than it was. The Ranger boat had serious damage, but the driver FLW Tour pro Shinichi Fukae was not hurt. His camera man for the day did end up in a local hospital.
5. Speed and Stumps
The three people in this boat survived without a scratch. They were going a reported 65 mph and hit a stump in Lake Moultrie, SC. Luckily, the engine didn’t fall to the bottom of the lake during this fishing boat mishap.
6. On the Sandbar
This one was more embarrassing than anything for professional bass angler Mark Menendez. He ran aground early in the morning boating over to the tournament take-off site. They were able to pull him off of the mud flat and he was still able to fish that day.
7. “On the Rocks” at Rufus Woods Lake, WA
Not much information is available on this one, but it is safe to say they ran a little too shallow. The good news is aluminum is more durable than fiberglass on the rocks.
