57-Inch, 50-Pound Minnesota Muskie Caught on the Fly Could Be New World Record

KSTP

Catching any Minnesota muskie on the fly is impressive, but this fish is more than likely a record breaker.

Robert Hawkins was fly fishing Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota for muskie.

His goal was to catch any muskie on the fly, but the fish he put in his net is setting the world of fly fishing on fire.

In this report, all the details are broken down.

More than likely this will be a record breaker, as the giant fish is on a short list of one of the bigger muskies ever caught by any method. The fact that it was on the fly makes it that much more amazing.

As a former bait maker myself, I think I can speak for Hawkins when I say that catching any fish on a bait you made is a special thing. With that in mind, this trip will be an experience that Hawkins will never forget.

Especially since fly he used is probably going to make him famous.
