Every year the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) releases the measurement of fishing participation in the U.S. Here are this year’s trends in a simple infographic.
Ever year the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) in conjunction with Outdoor Foundation at the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades Show release a special report on the year’s fishing trends.
In this year’s report it is estimated that 46 million Americans participated in some sort of fishing activity. In other words, 15.8 percent of the U.S. population went fishing last year. And almost half were female.
Other exciting news is that Hispanic Americans are taking to the water, as well a healthy number of the U.S. youth.
This year’s trends are good news for the sport of fishing.
There are more new people to the sport than ever, more than 2.4 million! Fishing, as we all know, is a great social activity which will keep the new participants hopefully coming back year after year.
The summer isn’t over, so grab a new-comer and put one more angler on the water to help next year’s statistics!
