The 2015 AKC Pointing Breed Championships are approaching.

Experienced hunting dogs will compete for best in sport this year in La Vergne, Tennessee. The AKC Pointing Breed Championships are hosting a variety of breeds that are competing to earn the AKC Field Championship or Amateur Field Championship.

In 2013, the Non-Retrieving Gun Dog Championship went to FC Brillows Big Wild West, a German wirehaired pointer handled by Jim West. In that year, the Retrieving Gun Dog Championship went to a German shorthaired pointer named Maddie.

During field trials, experienced gun dogs compete against one another by testing their retrieving, pointing, and flushing skills. Just like in any sport, the dogs that make the job look effortless and natural are likely to earn higher points and win the competition.

We’re excited to see how this year’s competition goes. It is scheduled for Feb. 20.
