2 Texas Fishermen Survived 50 Hours at Sea with Only Their Cooler

NBC News

In Galveston Bay, two friends were meant to have an incredible day at sea, but it quickly turned into a nightmare.

Michael Watkins and Raymond Jacik were only supposed to be gone for five hours, but were missing for over 50 hours.

A rogue wave capsized their boat before they could put on their life jackets, so the two men clung to their cooler and broken pipes with just hope.

The U.S. Coast Guard searched for the pair via helicopter and finally spotted one of the fishermen clinging to an oil platform near San Leon.

They are at two hospitals and are currently in stable condition after their harrowing experience.
