13-Year-Old Caught and Released World Record Lake Sturgeon in Wisconsin [Video]

Wow. Who knew lake sturgeon could get this big?

One of the largest lake sturgeon ever seen was caught and released by a 13-year-old boy from Minnesota recently.

David Jacobson was fishing with his father and several other members of his family on Yellow Lake in Wisconsin, when the big fish hit. After a long 30-minute fight, Jacobson was able to bring the lake sturgeon in to get measurements before quickly releasing it back into the water.

As reported in the news clip, this giant lake sturgeon measured in at 86 inches and was estimated at around 160 pounds.

Unfortunately for Jacobson, since his father actually set the hooks into the fish and then handed the rod off to him, the world record rules clearly state this is a disqualifying event.

A single angler has to handle the fish entirely on his own from start to finish to officially count.

Even so, this huge lake sturgeon is a fish of a lifetime and a memory that none of them will ever forget. What makes this story even more amazing is that they did it all as a family.
