This tough girl was being stalked by a cougar, but she shot it and saved her own life!

As originally reported by CBS7.com, Alyssa Caldwell did something not many 12-year-olds can claim.

She has been hunting small game and whitetail deer since she was nine years old, and when she turned 12, her father took her on an elk hunt in New Mexico.

Only two days into the hunt, her father had left her to retrieve some gear and heard the shot. He came racing back with thoughts of a large elk in his mind. What he found shook him to the core.

A mountain lion was stalking his daughter as if she was a rabbit. She killed the predator with one shot.

Oh yes, and even after the incident, two days later, she shot her first bull elk. We applaud you, Alyssa Caldwell. Great shot and keep up the good work!
