We’re wrapping up our year with a look back at some of the best and most-viewed posts, videos, and stories from 2017 and sharing them in our Wide Open Spaces 12 Days of Top Stories countdown.
Call it an advent calendar for the sportsman in all of us.
And we must say, you people love your wild hogs, which is why we’re starting the countdown with 12 of the craziest, most interesting, and flat out awesome hog stories from 2017.
To be fair, we have to admit not every one is a true “hog hunting” video, in that not every clip shows a hog hitting the ground. Bottom line is these all include hogs in some way, shape, or form, and they all pretty much blew us away over the last year.
Check out the full list, revisit the videos, and stick around for more of our Wide Open Spaces 12 Days of Top Stories countdown.
Sometimes, hunters use the dark of night to help them sneak up on and target wild hogs. This time it didn’t go so well.
Spear hunting took on a bit of attention in 2017, for various reasons, but there’s no denying this video is as intense as it gets.
This video wasn’t fresh from 2017, but it took a while for us to find it. We’re glad we did!
It’s back to nighttime with this incredibly graphic shot from a Texas hunter.
Here’s an example of the non-hunting videos that we just had to share as part of this 12 Days of Top Stories list. It’s amazing what these animals can withstand.
OK, here’s another, which got us all wondering: Was this was a wild or domestic and escaped pig…?
One more, without any hunting, but man wouldn’t you want a rifle in your hands at the :18 second mark?
Here’s a crazy collection worth checking out. We’ll wait, New Year’s Eve isn’t here yet…
Yeah, with a name like Pigman, you’re almost certainly going to end up on this list.
We’ll start to close things out with the instructional side of things, like this video showing how to make a Euro mount out of a hog skull.
We almost didn’t believe this when we first saw it, but you guys sure liked it when we posted it earlier this year.
We couldn’t finish without sharing a great method of cooking wild hog meat. Because even though they’re an invasive species, they’re still worth harvesting the right way!
We hope you enjoyed these 12 Top Stories from 2017, and we’re excited to see what 2018 has in store in the hog hunting world.
Until then, keep checking back on the countdown in the 12 Top Stories of 2017.
