If you think your slugs are deadly just wait until you see these 12-gauge slugs that leave a 2.5-inch hole in their wake.
The ammunition company OATH (Operators American Tactical Hardware) is known for having some pretty deadly expanding ammo, but the new 12-gauge slugs they’ve created that will leave a 2.5-inch hole are quite possibly the most deadly yet.
OATH has recently unveiled two new 12-gauge rounds that are designed to stop an attacker in their tracks, while reducing the chance of harming anyone else in the area. The first is the 1.25oz 1600fps all-copper slug; this slug when fired expands to 2.5 inches and will literally put a hole that size in your target. Plus the wide impact ensures that it slows down tremendously and has very little chance of passing through the target.
The other new release is a frangible slug which is much heavier and slower at 2.25oz 1200fps. This all brass round, upon impact, breaks up into six 158 grain sharp triangular pieces, which spread out about 15-degrees to the side of the original direction. This means that penetration is very shallow and the fragments stop quickly.
Both of these new slugs can be fired from a smooth bore, or a rifled 12-gauge shotgun. And both are made to withstand many rounds of reloading. The casing is made of machined brass and has been tested with reloading over 1,000 times with no ill effects.
Both of these slugs pack a punch and both will stop any aggressor in their tracks. The one that works best for you is really a personal decision. Both should be for sale through OATH any day now and will also be offered with a ballistically matched practice load at a lower price than the real deal.
