Science fiction guns are the epitome of everything we want in a weapon.
Here’s a reminder of all the ridiculously cool things we’ve ever seen fire a beam, a bullet, or a bomb. They’ve been on the big screen and now we have to have them in our hands.
These are all the things that have a trigger that we’ve always wanted to pull.
1. M41A Pulse Rifle – Aliens
This lightweight, air-cooled assault rifle would be great for times when we’ve seen a pack of coyotes chasing a deer, or when we need to kick some alien ass. Make sure you get the model with the grenade launcher.
2. Noisy Cricket – Men In Black
There’s nothing like a weapon that will fit in your wallet or in the palm of hand and still have the capacity for destruction. As Agent J said: “I feel like I’m gonna break this damn thing.”
Just make sure that you brace yourself before firing it, because it’s not the Noisy Cricket that’s gonna break.
3. Phaser – Star Trek
They started as hand-held guns with a pistol grip. It is also available in the palm-sized mini phaser and ultimately morphed into something that looked like a dust buster. Who doesn’t want to try a gun that disintegrates everything? This would be the perfect thing to solve the invasive wild hog problem.

4. Everything In This Video – The Matrix
Most of these guns are based in real-world fact, but when we can push a button and have one-thousand rows of them appear on racks ripe for the picking, we want them. We also want Trinity because girls kick ass and don’t necessarily need weapons to do it.
5. The ARC Gun – District 9
The only problem with this protonic energy blasting bad-boy is that it needs to detect the DNA of an alien “prawn” to fire it. Whatever, we want one.
6. Auto 9 – Robocop
It’s fully automatic and stores well in an out-of-site leg holster. It’s the perfect gun if you’re faced with a varmint invasion or a rude corporate CEO.
7. Deckard’s M2019 Blaster – Blade Runner
This gun was made for shooting bad-ass androids and making them flop on the floor like a fish. I wish that the last one would have lived though. Has there ever been a better name for a bad guy than Roy Batty? It handles easily and can even be fired with several broken fingers.
8. Proton Pack – Ghostbusters
It seems to be a bit difficult to aim at times, but it still does the job when you’re mowing down a giant marshmallow man. It would be nice to have one of these the next time I’m on a river full of Asian Carp.
A nuclear accelerator that can be worn as a backpack? Yes please.
9. Darpa One Shot XG with Exacto Smart Bullet – Wanted
For those times when it would be nice to sit at home on the couch and be able to drill that big buck several miles away, the Darpa One Shot is for you. “X” marks the spot with this long range rifle. Look down, because if you’re standing on the x, well, too late.
10. ZORG ZF-1 – The Fifth Element
This sucker has everything from a rocket launcher and a machine gun, to a flamethrower and a freeze ray. It’s like a hand-held James Bond car. With a camo pattern, we like it even more. Who doesn’t want the Swiss Army knife of killer science fiction weaponry?
Let’s face it, we can’t live with these science fiction guns, and we can’t live without them. More to come…
