$1 million worth of federal aid will soon be used to help New Hampshire fishing and its struggling fishing communities.

The money, released from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, will be used for commercial ground-fishing industry and for-hire fishing vessels.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen told reporters the money provided will be a lifeline to New Hampshire fishing which she feels, “continues to struggle under onerous federal catch limits and regulations.”

Over the past two years New Hampshire fishing has received $2 million in fishery disaster funds.
